For Immediate Release:  June 10, 2008

HANOVER STREET RAMP TO I-95 REMAINS CLOSED FOR REPAIRS

BALTIMORE, MD – The ramp from southbound Hanover Street to southbound Interstate 95 remains closed to repair damage caused by this morning’s tanker fire. The ramp is anticipated to be closed through rush hour today.

Drivers are being directed to turn right on McComas Street from southbound Hanover Street. They should then make a U-turn at Key Highway intersection, which will lead them to the McComas Street entrance to southbound I-95.

The fire, which occurred around 3 a.m., caused damage to a small portion of the deck overlay on the I-95 ramp over Hanover Street.  Structural engineers and maintenance teams responded immediately to assess the severity and make repairs.

Please drive with caution and obey posted speed limits and traffic-control devices.

The Maryland Transportation Authority is an independent State agency that finances, owns and operates the State’s seven toll facilities.  The Authority’s eight Members, appointed by the Governor with consent of the State Senate, serve as the agency’s policy-setting and governing body.  Maryland's Secretary of Transportation serves as Authority Chairman.

Note: If you choose to use an acronym, please refer to the Maryland Transportation Authority as MDTA. Thank you.
