FREDERICK, MD (June 13, 2008) Starting Tuesday, June 17, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the MD-28 (Tuscarora Road) bridge over Washington Run in Point of Rocks. The $2 million project will replace the MD-28 bridge, built in 1932, near the Point of Rocks Industrial Park in Frederick County. The project is expected to be complete and the bridge re-opened in early September, weather permitting.
The closure is approximately seven and one-half miles and requires the closure of MD-28 between Rock Hall Road and Pleasant View Road. Detour signs will be posted to help motorists commute during this project.
Motorists traveling along MD-28 west of the bridge are detoured to northbound US-15, to eastbound Mountville Road, to southbound New Design Road, and then back to Md-28.
