MTA’S METRO SUBWAY CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
MTA’s Metro Subway…Keeping Communities Connected

BALTIMORE, MD (June 17, 2008) – The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Metro Subway invites everyone to join the celebration of the Metro Subway’s 25th Anniversary. On June 21, 2008 the MTA will kick-off their summer long Metro 25th Anniversary celebration at 701 E. Baltimore Street (the former site for the Port Discovery Balloon ride), in Downtown Baltimore from 11:00am- 3:00pm.

This family-friendly celebration provides yet another great reason to ride MTA by taking the Metro Subway to the Shot Tower/ Market place Station to enjoy the fun. The Metro Subway 25th Anniversary celebrations are designed to emphasize how well the current Metro Subway system has served the Baltimore region and to encourage others to make Metro Subway a regular part of their daily transit journey.  It is also a way of thanking MTA customers and employees for their dedication. Come out and enjoy the party, food and music as the MTA hosts local artists and entertainers, school groups, community partners and vendors.

During the Metro Subway 25th Anniversary celebration, the MTA will also sponsor a raffle in support of the Maryland Food Bank. For only a few dollars, guests can enter a raffle to win tickets to a Baltimore Orioles home game or local movie passes. The MTA welcomes customers to visit its newly redesigned website at www.mtamaryland.com to read more about Metro Subway’s history, and to provide suggestions for continued improvements.

For information on MTA schedules, fares, and other services, visit www.mtamaryland.com or call (410)539-5000 or (866)RIDE-MTA. TTY: (410)539-3497.
