(Baltimore, MD) -- With the start of construction of the new Silver Spring Transit Center, MARC will be closing the MARC ticket office on Friday, June 6, 2008. There will no longer be a ticket agent available after this date. However, MARC riders will still be able to board their train at this location. One way fares can be purchased onboard with cash without a penalty, after June 6th.
There will be an Amtrak QuikTrak machine on the site located near the elevator tower that will issue MARC tickets using a Debit or Credit card only. It will NOT accept MetroCheks, “Smart” benefits cards, nor cash. For those interested in receiving tickets by mail, Commuter Direct will be offering MARC tickets through the mail. Commuter Direct accepts paper and electronically transferred MetroCheks. They can provide any type of MARC ticket. Contact them at 703-228-7433 or online at www.CommuterDirect.com .
