BALTIMORE, MD - The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) announced today that Ralign T. Wells, current Director of Metro Subway Operations, will take over the post of Deputy Administrator for Operations. That post became available when Kathryn D. Waters accepted a leadership position with the American Public Transportation Association in Washington, DC. The changeover will occur later this month.
Wells has had a lengthy career at the MTA, starting as a weekend bus operator in 1989. He continued as an operator until 1997 when he became a Supervisor at Metro Subway. Between 2000 and 2004 he was Assistant Superintendent and in 2004 became Deputy Director of Bus Operations. Wells returned to Metro in 2005 and has been Director of Metro Operations since that time.
"Ralign has been one of our most productive and forward thinking managers for some time now and is ready for this opportunity," stated Paul J. Wiedefeld, MTA Administrator. "With a strong bus and rail background, he is the logical choice to pick up where Kathy left off. I am expecting continued operational and customer service improvements throughout our system."
In a related announcement, Wiedefeld named Michael S. Davis as Director of Metro Operations. Davis has worked at the MTA for 23 years and is currently the Deputy Director of Metro Subway.
