SECRETARY PORCARI ANNOUNCES BROOKS ROYSTER
TO STEP DOWN AS HEAD OF MARYLAND PORT ADMINISTRATION

HANOVER, MD - Transportation Secretary John D. Porcari announced today that F. Brooks Royster, III, has decided to step down as Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration (MPA).  Mr. Royster has served as Executive Director since 2005.

"Brooks Royster has served the people of Maryland well during his tenure," said Secretary Porcari.  "He has guided the Port of Baltimore through the very challenging and competitive waters of the maritime shipping business and I thank him for his leadership."

Under Mr. Royster's direction, the Port of Baltimore continued to increase tonnage, reaching record levels in multiple cargo categories.  The MPA recently received The Presidential "E" Award for Excellence in exporting.  He also oversaw the construction of a dedicated cruise facility at South Locust Point and the Port's 300th Anniversary celebration.

"I want to thank the State of Maryland for giving me the opportunity to serve its citizens and to work with the many great professionals here at the Maryland Port Administration.   I have enjoyed working for Secretary Porcari and Governor O'Malley, and I believe the Port will continue to thrive under their leadership.  The Port of Baltimore is a special and historical place, and I shall always be grateful that I had a chance to serve as its leader."

Mr. Royster will remain with the MPA through August 1, 2007.
