 The Selection Process

Candidates are placed on the eligible list in order of their test scores. Any tied scores are broken by random number. Your score on the exam will determine your placement into one of three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, and Qualified. After you receive notice of your test results, the next contact you may receive would come from the MDOT hiring administration. In most cases, you will receive an interview notice in the mail if you are being considered for a position. After you complete the exam, you will receive a notice of your test score and how long you will remain eligible for consideration for the position. Lists of eligibles are active for varying periods of time. If you do not appear to take an exam for personal reasons, a special exam will not be arranged. Make-up examinations may be considered for cases involving documented illness or other special circumstances and emergencies.
