MDOT Recruitment and Examination Services

The Department conducts recruitment and testing for all of its jobs through a combined centralized-decentralized effort. Centralized recruitment and testing is for job classifications used by two or more modal administrations. Decentralized recruitment and testing is conducted by modal administrations for job classifications unique to their operations. This effort is coordinated by the Secretary's Office, Office of Human Resources.

The Department's centralized recruitment and exam services include:

• Recruitment and testing for all MDOT-wide job classifications
• Maintaining an applicant Interest File
• Coordinating and distributing a weekly Schedule of Examinations
• Providing service, consultation and oversight to both internal and external customers
• Processing employee transfers and reinstatement requests
  

The Department's decentralized services include:

• Recruitment and testing for all job classifications that are unique to an Administration. Some examples include the following: SHA Landscape Architect, MVA Customer Service Reps, MAA Airport Firefighters, MDTA Toll Collectors, MTA Transportation Supervisors, MPA Crane Operators.
